Ubisoft made two main announcements today. The first is that the company subscribes to the company, Ubisoft +, will come to the Xbox console in the future. Meanwhile, quite large news, Ubisoft also revealed that Rainbow Six Extraction will come to the Xbox Game Pass, which is another big victory for Microsoft’s own subscription service. Ubisoft, it seems, has a game subscription to mind today.
For now, we don’t know much about plans to bring Ubisoft + to Xbox Consoles. Ubisoft is quite unclear about the plan, saying that the service will debut in the Xbox “in the future.” As a result, we don’t know whether Ubisoft + will be available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S or only the last platform. However, it makes sense to assume it will be good, considering that many games are available through Ubisoft + made for Xbox One.
Ubisoft + was revealed at E3 2019 as an uplay +, and was originally launched on the PC later that year. Until now, Ubisoft + has been locked up on a PC, but it was indeed launched at the Stadia and Amazon Luna in 2020. Ubisoft + runs $ 14.99 per month and provides access to many Ubisoft libraries, including new games, premium editions and DLCs.
Ubisoft + is not the first subscription service to make your way to the Xbox console. Talking about the Xbox Game Pass, Ubisoft also announced today that Rainbow Six Extraction will be a day-on-one release for this service. Rainbow Six Extraction is the upcoming Multiplayer PVE game that displays 18 operators from Rainbow six previous titles. Rainbow Six Extraction will join Rainbow Six Siege on the Xbox Game Pass, which is currently available for console customers. Ubisoft also announced today that when extraction aired on the Xbox Game Pass on January 20, Rainbow Six Siege will also join the PC version and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Netting Rainbow Six Extraction as a daily release is the possibility of a big victory for Microsoft because of the popularity of franchises, but it could also be a big problem for Ubisoft. The reaction to Rainbow Six Extraction has been rather cool, so by launching the Xbox Game Pass on the first day, Ubisoft can attract a much larger audience than with traditional releases.
One question left with after news today is whether Ubisoft + will also come to Playstation 5 and PS4 in the future. While Ubisoft does not announce any plans now, it does not seem to be brainer if Ubisoft carries services to Xbox.
