Samsung foldable and slidable display prototypes show Galaxy’s flexible future

Samsung makes waves in the cellular industry with a Galaxy Z smartphone and fold, two folding models that have received the next generation upgrade. It’s just a starting point for the aspiration of Samsung folding display and vice versa, and the company has made extra clear as part of the CES 422 showcase.

The folded prototype display shows off several different design styles, including devices such as laptops, tri-fold and z-fold tablets, and even smart speakers wrapped in a flexible look than the speaker grille. Although there are no products on the market today, they signal the type of device that we might see from Samsung in a relatively close time.

Want to target business markets other than consumers with several flexible display products. The screen like a laptop that can be folded is highlighted as a potential example of a business device, with Samsung noting that the flexibility will allow IT workers quickly transition from using the device as a laptop to a full size monitor.

This laptop folding device is referred to as a “flex note” and, Samsung said, it has a 17.3-inch flexible OLED panel, when folded, offers the same form factor with a 13-inch laptop. Using a companion smartphone application, Samsung explained that the AI-powered speakers can be revealed to turn into a large and flat display, effectively making it a smart look. The company also shows off this variety of concepts with a device called “slidable” – simple, it is a smartphone with side panels that can slide out during the time when the user needs more real estate screens.

The disadvantage is that Samsung has not revealed a plan to bring this prototype device to the market, at least not yet. Each device is a concept intended to show off flexible OLED display technology and gives a number of ways this panel can be used.
