Mercedes-Benz EQV camper van debuts with a pop-up roof and complete living amenities

Van and V-Class Mercedes-Benz equipment is one of the most famous “van-life” movement symbols. But last year, the German car maker debuted by EQV All-Electric Van in Europe, redefining the meaning of zero-emissions outdoors. Now, Mercedes has launched an EQV version of the Camping van. What’s good about it is to leave the factory with all the bells and whistles that people expect from van adventure oriented lifestyle.

“This motorbike market is very important for Mercedes-Benz van,” said Klaus Rehuger, head of sales and marketing, Van Mercedes-Benz. “For us, it is clear: the future is electricity, also in the Motorhome industry!”

Mercedes-Benz claims EQV Camper van is one of the first market ecamper vehicles in production. It starts with standard EQV (in ordinary or extended wheelbases) and is available in two battery variants.

EQV 300 has a 90 kWh battery mosquito net around the 225 mile range ranked WLTP. Meanwhile, EQV 250 has a smaller 60 kWh battery for around 147 miles from driving distance. The electrical system supports DC charging to refill the battery from ten to 80 percent in about 45 minutes.

Furthermore, EQV went to the Swiss specialist Sortimo Walter Rügg PLC to undergo a comprehensive “van-life” conversion. Unlike homemade conversions or other garages, Sortimo goes by modular to maximize the EQVS cabin space. For example, the kitchen unit has a drawer system and includes a gas stove that can be released two rings, refrigerators and sinks. It also has special drawers for equipment and tableware.

Meanwhile, on the kitchen unit is a pop-up roof with a roof bed which, according to Mercedes, “can be opened in a few simple steps to make the bed which is actually adjusted to the width of the EQV vehicle.” Of course, all modular pieces have light construction to save weight.
