Formlabs returned with the latest version of Form 3 and 3B 3D SLA form printer. The new form is 3+ and 3B forms + promises of key increase – from special notes, faster printing speeds – made possible by the combination of updated hardware and software. In addition, Formlabs has also taken the new ESD resin wrap, new materials that can be used to print ESD-SAFE components.
Formlabs Form 3+ and 3B Forms + Printers have certain similarities, including updated software and the next Build Gen platform 2. The last feature includes the company’s fast release technology, which makes it easier to get the building surface without pulling or using a friction.
Both models also display new materials and, from records, lasers are stronger with a greater level of intensity than the previous printer model. The combination of this change increases print speed by 40 percent, according to Formlab, while optimizing laser exposure.
Model form 3+, in particular, is more affordable than two models (although still quite expensive) at $ 3,499 USD. Buyers can expect the results of “industrial quality”, the company claims, underlining the high-end model properties by showing off its ability to print dental prints.
This model displays a 250MW laser and the ability to print models with layer thickness ranging from 25μm to 300μm. This combination allows high precision levels, allowing to print models that display subtle details and edge shapes. Although the level of precision, Formlabs said the form of 3+ can produce a model quickly.
Unlike filament-based printers, this resin printer removes the lines produced by printing one layer at a time. This is because of how the laser functions: by producing uniform lasers on the full print surface. In addition, 3+ including Adaptive Layer Tech to automatically adjust the Heights layer in all models based on its own unique geometry.
While form 3+ is a very high-end printer, form 3b + takes things to the next level with a design specifically tailored to health needs. Therefore, it is not surprising 3B + starts at $ 4,850 USD, extinguishes the reach of all except the most dedicated 3D printing fans.
This model works with Loading SLA Formlabs’ Formlabs material, which means it can be used to print the model using resin and biocompatible material that can be sterilized. 3D printing technology has proven vital for health care settings, allowing to print items that are uniquely designed for each patient.
Formlab provides several examples of types of objects that can be printed 3b +, including surgical planning models, instruments, anatomy models based on certain patients, visual aids to help doctors diagnose conditions, and more.
Print the spleen artery using elastic resin 50A formlabs, for example, it will take around 8 hours and $ 13 in material, the company explained. The laryngoscope will involve the same costs and time when printed in Amber Biom resin, too, $ 12 and 6 hours.
As mentioned, Formlabs has also added ESD resin to its product library, marking the first time it offers static material disappearing. This material is very important to print certain components, especially those that will be used to accommodate sensitive electronic hardware.
The company has set its views on more than just DIY fans who make their own arcade machines. According to Formlab, ESD resin can be used for 3D printing projects across aerospace, electronics and automotive industries.
