In the middle of the CES news cycle panicked, Instagram has revealed that significant changes came to our home bait. Entering today’s testing is a new feature that gives us three different baits to explore when opening the application. While the standard house feed is not everywhere, it will join two new feeds that will almost certainly be proven popular among the mass use of Instagram.
This new bait was revealed by the Instagram Adam Mosseri boss, who posted the announcement to Instagram and Twitter today. In a short video, Mosseri explained that Instagram is currently testing “the ability to switch between three different views on your Home screen.” New feeds include standard home bait, which join new favorites and follow feeds.
Home feed will be the same as what you have used. This is where Instagram will rank content based on what is believed by each of the users you most want to see. Items in this feed will be presented from chronological order; Instead, it will be ordered with what Instagram is most relevant to you.
Favorite feed is quite clear, but this is where users will see content from an account that is important to them. It sounds like a user will set their own favorites, with Mosseri saying that he used the feed to follow his brothers, some of his favorite creators, and some of his best friends. Mosseri does not explain how users will set their favorites, and he also does not reveal how many favorites have every user if there is a limit at all.
The third and final feed is the following bait. This is where you will find a post only from the account you follow. Mosseri suggests that the following feed is needed because the home bait will have “more recommendations from time to time.” It should be noted that the following Foodite and Feeds will be in chronological order, which might make many Instagram users happy.
Years ago, Instagram discarded chronological feed, many with a lot of user interference. While home feed, which was once controversial, was not everywhere, was happy to see that chronological feed would make a comeback on favorites and follow bait.
Keep in mind, however, that this new bait is only in testing for now. It sounds like Instagram plans to launch this test to certain users for the next few weeks, but we have to wait a while before feeds are launched for everyone. Mosseri said that Instagram hoped to launch this new feed in the first half of 2022, which was a fairly broad release window. We will notify you when companies share more specifics, so stay here.
