TV makers and content publishers have tried to push the 8K screen and video to the market even though 4K has not been standard de-facto. Even though there is nothing wrong with regulating your scenery on higher things, aggressive and fast marketing has made some content makers struggling to catch up. While there are equipment that allows even amateurs to capture photos and videos in noble 8k resolution, barriers to arrive when it comes time to move it to a computer for the final touch. That’s where new memory card products and incoming card reader products provide the speed needed to keep creative juice flow.
Cameras and recording devices that capture it in 8K need data storage that can follow fast data writing. The run-of-the-mill flash memory card does not always meet the specifications, produce lost frames, for example. They also need to be able to transfer data quickly to the computer even though it has a large file size to minimize downtime that can reduce productivity.
Launched the new Pro Atlas series appropriately for that purpose, serving the creator aiming at high with 8K content. Atlas SD SD cards, for example, advertising 276MB / s write and read 290Mb / s speed to capture and transfer large 8K files quickly. It is compatible with many cameras that support UHS-II standards but are also compatible with UHS-I hardware, although without the benefit of maximum speed.
However, many professional cameras use faster CFexpress cards, which are places of Atlas Pro and Atlas Pro Ultra entry. Boast of a speed of 1400 MB / s, this type B card offers the fastest route from the camera to a computer (save for direct cable connections, of course). Compatible with backward with XQD equipment, the CFEXPRESS OWC card also promises firm performance in extreme conditions.
However, getting files from the CFExpress card, however, can be a challenge if your computer doesn’t have a slot to read it. In line with the new 8K product line, OWC also launched the ATLAS FXR card reader. Not much bigger than credit cards, readers allow the creator to take their work anywhere with them, and Thunderbolt connectivity ensures that it will not be an obstacle in this new 8K workflow.
At present, only OWC Atlas S cards SD UHS-II V90 are available for purchases, ranging from $ 49 and available in 32GB capacity, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The Owl Atlas Pro and Pro Ultra CFexpress card will not be available until the second quarter of this year, along with OWC Atlas FXR to read these cards.
